Background and Experience as a Prosecutor
Following law school, I was formally admitted as a member of the Florida Bar in 1982 and began my career as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County. During my work as a prosecutor, I represented the State of Florida in a wide variety of criminal cases ranging from driving under the influence (DUI) to homicides.
In 1986, I began working as Senior Trial Attorney at Essen & Essen, P.A. and, in 1992, formed my own defense firm. Since then, I am proud to have defended thousands of clients against a variety of serious charges. My experience and track record have given me a reputation for successful, aggressive, and informed advocacy, which has led to a variety of additional opportunities, including:
Serving as a judge for the University of Miami Law School Moot Court and Mock Trial Competitions
Lecturing at the Miami-Dade County Police Academy on police officer courtroom procedure
Leading seminars on DUI defense and law for attorneys
