Sylvia A. Cavazos

San Antonio Texas DWI Lawyer Sylvia A. Cavazos

Experience - Leadership - Integrity

Sylvia received her Juris Doctorate degree in 1997 from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in Lansing, Michigan. A native Texan, she returned to San Antonio and began her career as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney for the Bexar County District Attorney’s office. From a Misdemeanor Prosecuting Attorney immersed in the complex area of DWI trial to her final position where she served as a Felony Prosecutor, in between Sylvia has practiced in the Juvenile Trial Division, practicing the very specialized and unique area of  law in the Juvenile Criminal Justice System.

The career of a prosecutor is demanding and requires an attorney to hone her skills daily in court and in front of a jury. Sylvia has served as a prosecutor in several different courts while at the District Attorney’s office and has tried a vast number of cases to jury verdict with many complex cases ranging from DWI to Aggravated First Degree felonies. She has handled cases from the earliest stages of Intake and indictment through the complex process of plea negotiations, jury selection and trial and often the difficult process of punishment enhancements.

In addition, Sylvia has also found time to give back to our community. She has been a guest speaker at various schools during Career Week, designed to motivate students and help them understand the criminal justice system, educational requirements and reach children and show them the realities of young offenders involved in the criminal justice system. Sylvia has volunteered and worked with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for the less fortunate but most deserving in our community. She has also worked and participated with the A.C.T.S. Missions, giving her time and support to parishioners and participants with the church. Recently Sylvia left the District Attorney’s office to begin her expansion and the next phase of her career, and opened The Law Office of Sylvia A. Cavazos, a General Practice firm.

If you have been arrested, it is important that your attorney informs you of your legal and Constitutional rights, afforded to you by the U. S. Constitution.

The laws of the State of Texas are contained in the Texas Penal Code.
A violation of any of these laws may result in jail or prison time.

You must contact an attorney immediately to advise you of all of your options. You need an experienced attorney to review your case thoroughly, evaluate the case, and then create a plan or strategy and to do what is in your best interest. For example, are there any defenses? Did the police conduct a thorough investigation? Does the State’s case lack evidence? What are the strengths or weaknesses in your case? You have a right to a JURY TRIAL.

Should you take your chances with a jury trial? Or should get the best plea bargain? You need an attorney who is experienced in criminal jury trials and who will give you the legal advice that you need in order to make an informed decision that may affect your for the rest of your life.

An attorney cannot GUARANTEE you what will ultimately happen. However, Attorney Sylvia A. Cavazos WILL guarantee you that she will do her utmost best in representing you. As a former Felony Prosecutor in the Criminal Trial Division, she will utilize all of her past experience in evaluating cases and going before juries in jury trials to give you the best legal representation.
